About Us

Our story began in the 1960s, when Dr. Roy Toyama opened the doors to a small eye care clinic with a big vision: to bring exceptional, compassionate eye care to the people of North Idaho. As the community grew, so did our clinic—guided by Dr. Toyama’s dedication and joined by a team of like-minded local ophthalmologists who shared his passion for service and innovation.

Together, they expanded the scope of care, introducing advanced clinical and surgical services that allowed patients to receive world-class treatment close to home. Over the years, we’ve welcomed new physicians, optometrists, and team members, each one adding to the depth of our expertise and the warmth of our care.

Today, we proudly serve our community from three convenient locations, offering comprehensive medical, surgical, and optical eye care. Our Coeur d’Alene facility houses a state-of-the-art, locally owned ambulatory surgery center, where most of our surgical procedures are performed with precision and care.

We’re honored to collaborate with local hospitals and independent optometrists, working together to ensure every patient receives the personalized attention they deserve. With a dedicated team of over 120 professionals, we remain committed to the mission that started it all: enhancing lives through better vision.
